Law, farming and business

Keven J. Stratton earned a bachelor's degree in finance and a law degree from Brigham Young University. His Senate biography describes him as an attorney and farmer operating businesses in construction, agriculture, manufacturing, real estate and law. It also records community leadership with the Provo-Orem Chamber of Commerce, Healthy Utah Valley and Kids on the Move, alongside consumer-protection advisory work. [1]

House appointment and Senate transition

Stratton was appointed to the Utah House in 2012 and joined the Senate in 2025. He now represents District 24, covering parts of Utah and Wasatch counties. His Senate biography identifies him as co-chair of Social Services Appropriations and the Federalism Commission. Those dates distinguish his longer legislative career from his more recent service in the Legislature's upper chamber. [1]

Health, resources and water

His current committee record lists Senate Health and Human Services, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment, and Rules. Interim assignments include health and natural resources, while the Legislative Water Development Commission adds water planning. Together these responsibilities connect the financing and administration of social programs with land, agriculture and resource policy, rather than limiting his work to the legal questions associated with his profession. [2]

In the 2026 General Session, Keven J. Stratton was chief sponsor of S.B. 26, Pest Control Amendments. It revises pest control regulation, including registration and fees for pesticide applicator businesses, ending the qualified-party concept, and permitting for ornamental and turf technicians and certain salespeople. The governor signed it on March 26, 2026. [3]

In the 2026 General Session, Keven J. Stratton was chief sponsor of S.B. 42, State Weed Committee Amendments. It would have extended the State Weed Committee's repeal date to July 1, 2036. It did not become law, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [4]

Budget review and federalism

Stratton's appropriations work includes Social Services and Transportation and Infrastructure. His roster also lists the Federalism Commission and oversight of the Rural Health Transformation Grant. The assignments put healthcare funding, infrastructure and state-federal relations in his current portfolio. His biography's broader statements about personal principles describe his outlook; these official assignments provide the concrete record of the legislative bodies on which he serves. [2]
