In their own words: the Tribune questionnaire
Ostler calls state government bloated, points to high salaries for top state employees and to audits showing corruption, and argues taxes burden property rights. On affordability he would apply sales tax only to new items, cut income tax by 50 percent, eliminate property taxes and cap state officials' salaries at $150,000 or less. [1]
On water he would stop data centers from wasting water and prioritize water for crops and farms. He argues Utah should follow the U.S. Constitution more closely, citing its limit on states making anything but gold and silver coin legal tender for debts. He answered Against on Constitutional Amendment A and For on Amendment B. [1]
