Background, as reported

The Tribune reports that Jake Hunsaker is a senior operations manager at Qualtrics who previously challenged U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens for a congressional seat. It lists no prior elected office. The seat is open because Rep. Doug Fiefia is running for the state Senate. [1]

In their own words: the Tribune questionnaire

Hunsaker wrote that trust erodes when votes contradict campaign promises, and committed to explaining his reasoning: transparency starts before the vote, not after. On affordability, he supported increasing housing supply, removing barriers that raise housing costs and reforming unfunded mandates. On water, he would build on existing conservation work such as secondary water metering and protect the Great Salt Lake and Utah's Colorado River share. His other priority was infrastructure, with state agencies planning roads and water alongside growth. [1]

The candidate answered for on Constitutional Amendment A (publishing proposed amendments on state websites) and against on Amendment B (60 percent voter approval for citizen initiatives that raise taxes). [1]
