Corey K Astill was a candidate for Utah County Clerk in the Nov. 3, 2026 general election. The ballot listed Corey K Astill, Republican. Counts are unofficial until the canvass; see the election night results and the official results.
ABC4 reports that Astill spent a decade in Washington, D.C., including as staff director for the Congressional Joint Economic Committee and as legislative director for Sen. Deb Fischer. He has run two Utah clinics providing behavioral health services for young patients with autism and co-hosts the podcast Political as Heck.[1]
The clerk's race
Astill defeated Davidson in the June 23 Republican primary, about 55 percent to 45 percent, with 31,707 votes to Davidson's 25,605 in the figures reported for that race. He told ABC4 he has no experience running elections, pointing instead to management, payroll and business ownership, and said "The public's lost trust over the past several years" in the clerk's office.[1]
ABC4's account of the office's recent issues includes Davidson's 2025 acknowledgment that he tracked how state Sen. Mike McKell and other officials returned their ballots, which led lawmakers to bar clerks from releasing how individual voters cast ballots; a halted scanning program after 19 more ballots were cast than voter check-ins in the 2024 primary; and long lines and paper shortages at ballot centers in the 2024 general election. Forward Party candidate Russ Rampton is Astill's November opponent.[1]
