Kanab council, planning commission and county service
Southern Utah News's May 2026 candidate profile says Meyeres served on the Kanab Planning Commission and the Kanab City Council before being elected county commissioner, has studied civics and emergency response, and sits on statewide boards including the Constitutional Defense Council. In the paper's October Q&A she describes herself as a microbusiness owner with more than 20 years of business experience who holds the commission's economic development assignment. In 2022 the paper described her as a Kanab City Council member since 2019 and chair of the Kane County Republican Party. [2] [1] [4]
In their own words: priorities and the race
In the Q&A, Meyeres lists returning land-use decisions to local control, opposing a new municipality near Kanab, forest management and diverse industries among her priorities. She cites tourism tax revenue that funds roads and emergency medical services and says she regrets a delay in forming a fire response district east of Kanab. "Unnecessary hesitation is the enemy of success," she said. In May she told the paper, "My motivation is to defend the rights and opportunities of local residents," and on growth, "Balance is essential." [1] [2]
Meyeres won the June 23 Republican primary for Seat B, 942 votes (56.82%) to Matthew LeGrand Cox's 716 (43.18%), in unofficial results. She faces Democrat Bo Folsom in November. [3]
