Agenda, item by item

  1. Item II.1 · Presentation

    Zero Food Waste 2030 compact

    Discussed

The Community Foundation asked the councils to champion diverting all food waste from the landfill by 2030 and to pass a resolution. Staff said 40 percent of residential waste is food. The city sustainability manager will return to the city council on April 25. No action.

  2. Item II.2 · Presentation

    Olympics update

    Discussed

The IOC will announce its award in July. The State of Utah would be financial guarantor, with an interlocal agreement so the city and county are paid for costs above normal service levels. Armstrong said the state would not fund much transportation for a two-week event; Parigian requested help with park-and-rides. Informational.

  3. Item II.3 · Roads and utilities

    Regional transportation convening update

    Discussed

The regional group reviews transit projects including bus rapid transit, interchange improvements and park-and-rides. Dickey is the city liaison; Rubell suggested adding Ciraco. No action.

  4. Item II.4 · Roads and utilities

    Summit County park-and-ride study update

    Discussed

A joint study to create a regional park-and-ride plan; a survey found 66 percent of users parked for ski days and most recommended lots are within county boundaries. Members discussed ski lockers and idling cars. No action.

  5. Item II.5 · Roads and utilities

Kimball Junction environmental impact statement update

    Discussed · Kimball Junction

UDOT eliminated alternative B; options include A+C, B+ and C+, with construction at least three to four years and hoped to start by 2029. Public comment runs through March 27. Members generally favored a letter of support; Rubell questioned the city's role beyond that. No vote.
