Agenda, item by item

  1. Item 1 · Presentation

    Regional housing authority update

    Discussed

An advisor said most mid-size and larger housing authorities operate autonomously without direct city or county funding and predicted this one would start small. Harte strongly supported pursuing it; Gerber cautioned it would add an administrative step and urged a strategic housing plan; Dickey asked whether bureaucracy would be added without much benefit; Armstrong was not ready to support the remaining funding questions. Doilney said the housing focus is 100 percent rental and 90 percent employment-assisted. The councils will continue the discussion on November 7. No vote.

  2. Item 2 · Presentation

    Childcare update

    Discussed

The working group's draft recommendation would propose a task force on capacity and affordability. The mayor proposed expanding the group countywide; the Summit County chair directed the county manager to study subsidizing or providing childcare for county employees. Gerber said $1 million in funding was not enough. No vote.

  3. Item 3 · Roads and utilities

    Peak winter traffic mitigation update

    Discussed

A traffic study presented results; changes will be piloted December 8 and 9 so adjustments can be made before Christmas. No vote.
