Police Complaint Review Committee applicant interviews
Discussed
Police Chief Wade Carpenter asked the council to consider diversity of background and impartiality. The council agreed to add community seats, with one non-voting staff liaison, and staggered terms of three three-year terms and one two-year term for the four appointees. Special Counsel Margaret Plane said the committee is advisory only and the council would not act as the appellate authority. Staff will return with a resolution amending the policy. Thirteen applicants were interviewed and told selections would come within two weeks.
