Home occupations in detached accessory structures (Section 13.11.040)

    Approved · 5-0

Planner Terryne Bergeson said the request began with a resident who had received a permit for a detached structure for growing and selling plants. The 1,000-square-foot cap is about half the average home footprint (2,127 sq. ft.); about 30 percent of home-occupation parcels already have a detached structure averaging 549 square feet. Murray and West Valley City do not allow the use; several other cities do with conditions. The Planning Commission voted 6-1 to recommend approval after a hearing with no public comment.

    • Cap: 1,000 sq. ft.
    • Two licenses per parcel
    • Residential daycares barred in detached structures

Moved by Council Member Harker. Vote: 5-0 on roll call
