  1. Item IV-V · Budget

Resolution 2024-16: Tentative 2024-25 budgets and June 6 public hearing

    Approved · 5-0

The general fund is about $22.2 million. The proposed 15% property tax rate increase would cost about $95 a year on a home valued at $871,000. Sales tax growth has stalled, so the budget does not rely on it for new expenses, and police services are the largest dollar change. Adoption is due by June 30 and the tax rate by June 22; an increase above the certified rate needs an August hearing.

Work meeting: Spring Lane adaptive reuse initial presentation

    Discussed

After stakeholder meetings, a workshop and a survey of about 680 responses, three concepts were reviewed and Concept 3 developed into Concepts A and B. Concept A has up to 188 parking stalls, a pavilion with restrooms, pickleball courts, a dog park, a playground and five acres of multi-purpose fields. Construction-only estimates are $8.3 million to $9 million; demolition, at $10 to $12 per square foot, is excluded pending a school district agreement. Council Members Gray and Brewer asked about phasing, pickleball noise and dog park crowds; Council Member Durham supported phasing and preserving school history.
