After interviewing all 19 qualified applicants at a special meeting, the Ogden City Council chose Jeremy Peterson to fill the At-Large Seat C vacancy left by Council Member Shaun Myers's July 31 resignation. Peterson received four votes, a majority, on the first roll call, so no runoff was needed. A short work session beforehand reviewed the interview process.

Council Executive Director Glenn Symes said 19 qualified applications had been received and all applicants would be interviewed, in an order drawn at random by the chief deputy recorder, with four minutes each and no extensions. A reference sheet covered tiebreaker steps and a coin flip if needed. Chair Richard Hyer asked members not to campaign for or against any candidate and asked the audience to refrain from reactions.
