Planning and budget leadership
Sophia DiCaro is executive director of the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget and a senior adviser to Governor Spencer Cox. Her career has crossed state budgeting, economic development and private investment management. [1]
Public finance and compliance work
DiCaro began working in the planning and budget office in 2001. She ran the Utah State Data Center, conducting demographic and economic analysis, and later became a lead budget and policy analyst. She then spent six years in the Governor's Office of Economic Development, serving as finance director and later deputy director and chief operating officer. [1]
Before returning to her current state role, she was chief compliance officer at the Cynosure Group. Her agency biography also records a term representing northern West Valley City in the Utah House and five years teaching public budgeting and finance in the University of Utah's Master of Public Administration program.
