In her own words: Moab Sun News candidate questions
Holland describes herself as a financial planner and former Moab Chamber president who has served on the city planning commission and county advisory boards, and says she believes in "honest, transparent government." She cites more than 20 years in finance and says the most important challenge is how neighbors talk to one another, promising thoughtful, respectful discussion as a commissioner. [2] [1]
Her first move would be fiscal transparency: regular community budget workshops, plain-language spending updates and an expanded Budget Advisory Board. On tourism she would bring business owners, nonprofits, workers and families together to plan for managing growth, and on housing she would learn from communities with similar challenges. On budget swings she proposes baseline budgeting with reserves and rainy-day funds. [1]
Her opponent, Diego Velasquez, is running unaffiliated and answered the same questions; the voter guide lists both candidates' answers by topic. [1]
