Politically neutral. Every candidate on this ballot gets the same sections. The party shown is the one the ballot lists. A section is missing only where we haven't yet found an official source for it. How we stay neutral
Diego Velasquez's BallotReady candidate profile lists this work history: Moab Museum, Director of Communications | Co-Executive Director (2022 - Present); Project 1100, Research and Outreach Assistant (2021 - 2022); Moab Solutions, Assistant To The Executive Director (2021 - 2022). [1]
In his own words: Moab Sun News candidate questions
Velasquez says he is running to build "a more economically resilient and culturally thriving future for local families and workers," citing his work as a community advocate and a director of the Moab Museum. He names affordability as the top issue and says he would invest in workforce development, partnerships with groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and Community Land Trust, and land-use decisions that put residents first. [3] [2]
His first move would be aligning the county's and city's General Plan and Future Land Use Plan updates. On tourism he proposes a coordinated County-City event permitting process, and on housing he says he would support community housing organizations through fiscal sponsorships and grants and bolster incentives for new housing for local primary residences. He says managing the Moab Museum's budget and reducing its shortfall informs his preference for conservative revenue forecasts, and he proposes a bi-weekly "Upcoming Decisions" bulletin ahead of major votes. His opponent, Shalee Holland, answered the same questions; the voter guide lists both candidates' answers by topic. [2]
