Background
Nile Mathisen is Ballard’s mayor. In a September 2025 candidate interview, he described himself as a lifelong Uintah Basin resident who operated a farm in Ballard. He said his local-government experience included ten years on the City Council, planning-and-zoning service and work on the Uintah Animal Control and Shelter Special Service District board. During that campaign, he emphasized the practical demands of growth on the county’s west side, including water connections, roads and coordination between municipal and county government.
