Candidate, Utah County Commission Seat A · Republican
Politically neutral. Every candidate on this ballot gets the same sections. The party shown is the one the ballot lists. A section is missing only where we haven't yet found an official source for it. How we stay neutral
Michelle Kaufusi's BallotReady candidate profile lists her work history as Provo mayor (2017 to present, as the profile was written) and her education as a bachelor's degree in geography from Brigham Young University. [3]
Record and earlier races
KSL's June 2026 primary report calls Kaufusi a former Provo mayor. She won the Republican primary for Seat A with about 54 percent of the vote, or 31,896 votes, over Brent V. Bowles, a former firefighter and nurse anesthetist. The results were unofficial when the article ran. [1]
In the November 2025 Provo mayoral election, KSL reported that she appeared headed for re-election on election night, then trailed challenger Marsha Judkins by nearly 400 votes in later counts and conceded. Judkins had 51.18 percent in unofficial results. KSL describes Kaufusi as having served eight years as mayor. [2]
Stated priorities
Her BallotReady profile gives three statements: that public safety is the foundation of a strong community and that investment in first responders, emergency preparedness and community partnerships should continue; that the economy should support businesses of all sizes and create good jobs through responsible development and support for local entrepreneurs; and that thoughtful planning and sustainable growth keep a community a good place to live. These were written for her Provo mayoral candidacy and are her own words, not an assessment of her record. [3]
