Background
Michael F. Leavitt was appointed to the Fifth District Juvenile Court in 2014. He previously practiced at Durham Jones & Pinegar and its predecessor firm, and served in legal-profession leadership roles. He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2002. The court's biography says Leavitt served six years on the Language Access Committee, one of them as chair, and chaired the Board of Juvenile Court Judges in 2020 and 2021. When he was appointed in 2014 he was a Utah State Bar commissioner, and he had earlier been president of the Southern Utah Bar Association.
