In the candidate's own words

Julie Smith is described on the Forward Party website, as cited by the Tribune, as a historian and educator. In the survey Smith urges putting shared ethical principles above party loyalty. On housing Smith proposes expanding the 2023 starter-home down payment law to homes under $500,000, with 20 percent silent second mortgages that are forgiven over time and funded by the rainy-day fund. Smith would protect the Great Salt Lake through public education, conservation incentives and rebates, and scrutiny of data centers' water use. Smith supports Amendment A and opposes Amendment B.
