Background

Jamison Wiggins is Grand County’s sheriff, serving in that role since 2023. His campaign biography says his entire law-enforcement career has been with the county sheriff’s office. A 2017 Times-Independent profile documented his earlier work as a correctional officer at the county jail, completion of corrections training and subsequent graduation from the law-enforcement POST program in Sandy. He was sworn in as a patrol deputy in November 2017. The same profile identifies him as a 2007 Grand County High School graduate whose grandfather served as a county deputy and whose great-grandfather had been Moab’s town marshal.
