Background
Brian Redd became Salt Lake City's police chief effective March 5, 2025, after City Council approval the previous day. He previously led the Utah Department of Corrections and worked in compliance at Goldman Sachs. His earlier public-safety career included service as a state trooper and leadership of state investigative and intelligence units. His police biography lists a business administration degree from Utah State University and an Executive Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University.
