Saratoga Springs

Recently unsealed search warrants show police sought a drone search and cell tower data in the investigation of a double homicide in Saratoga Springs, ABC4 reported. Around 11:30 p.m. on March 27, an 8-year-old and a 44-year-old woman were shot inside a home. The child died at the scene, and the woman died several days later, according to ABC4. [1]

A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, ABC4 reported. The station does not name him because of his age. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. [1]

A drone warrant filed Oct. 6, 2025, asked to use a drone to search the neighborhood after surveillance footage showed a person in a black-and-white mask, dark hoodie and shorts walking the area between 2 and 3 a.m. on March 28, according to the warrant as described by ABC4. The warrant said the person appeared to avoid doorbell cameras and that a drone could map the area and photograph the person's location and routes. Investigators had not yet found the gun. [1]

A second warrant, filed Oct. 16, 2025, asked for all data collected by cell towers within a 0.14-square-mile radius of the scene from 1 to 4 a.m. on March 28. It argued the data could show who was in the area before, during and after the shooting. Charging documents say the surveillance footage matched the 16-year-old's description, and ABC4 reported that the FBI helped search the Jordan River but the gun has not been found. [1]
