UCF beat No. 2 BYU 39-31 in double overtime Saturday in Orlando, handing the Cougars their first loss of the season, BYU Athletics reported. BYU fell to 6-1 and 3-1 in the Big 12, and UCF improved to 4-3 and 2-2. [1][2][3]

BYU led 14-10 in the second quarter before UCF's Keyone Jenkins threw a touchdown pass to Chambers with four seconds left in the half for a 17-14 halftime lead. BYU went back ahead 21-17 on a 1-yard run by Sione Moa, UCF answered with a Jenkins quarterback sneak for a 24-21 lead, and Mattias Dunn's 47-yard field goal tied it 24-24 in the fourth quarter. [1]

In the first overtime, Bear Bachmeier threw a touchdown pass to Legend Glasker and Jenkins answered with one to Josh Derry to make it 31-31. In the second, Jenkins threw a touchdown pass and then connected with Tyren Hornes on the two-point conversion for a 39-31 lead. Bachmeier's fourth-down pass in the end zone fell incomplete. [1][2][3][4]

Bachmeier was 16 of 32 for 257 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception, and added a rushing touchdown. Kyler Kasper had six catches for 129 yards and a score. BYU, which entered averaging 223.8 rushing yards a game, ran for 116. It was the first time the Cougars had been ranked No. 2 in the AP poll. [1][2][3] Coach Kalani Sitake said afterward, "They deserved to win." [2] Asked what went wrong, he cited "maybe lack of technique, but also great skill in space", and linebacker Cade Uluave, who had nine tackles, said of his own play, "There are some key tackles that I missed."
