Three candidates on the Nov. 3 ballot for Utah Senate District 21

Voters in Utah Senate District 21 will choose among incumbent Republican Brady Brammer, Democrat Kandee Myers and Wayne Woodfield of the Utah Forward Party on Nov. 3, the American Fork Citizen reported. The American Fork Citizen and the Lehi Free Press sent the same questionnaire to every candidate on the ballot, and the answers were published as submitted. ^[1]

Woodfield, who lives in Lehi and works as a software architect, said he is running to bring civility, integrity and transparency to the seat. He listed affordable housing, personal and religious liberty, public education, a healthy Great Salt Lake and responsible growth among his priorities, and said he supports term limits and campaign finance limits. ^[1]

Myers, who said she has more than 30 years of real estate experience, listed public education, affordable housing, responsible growth, natural resources, health care access and essential services as her priorities. She said she wanted voters to have another option in a district whose Senate seat she said had been decided by uncontested elections or appointments by Republican delegates since 2016. ^[1]

Brammer, an attorney and business owner, listed keeping taxes low, strengthening schools, protecting children and families, and addressing growth and infrastructure as his priorities. He cited his work on Utah Lake, a reduction in youth vaping from 15% to 7%, and tax cuts he said save the average family in the district about $700 a year. ^[1]

Utah County mailed a ballot to every active registered voter on Oct. 13. Completed ballots must reach the county elections office by 8 p.m. Nov. 3, and a postmark no longer counts. The county has 28 drop boxes open around the clock. Early in-person voting runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26-30 and Nov. 2 at the Health and Justice Building, 151 S. University Ave. in Provo, and vote centers are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 23, and people can still register and vote provisionally at a vote center on Election Day. ^[1]

Brammer won the Republican nomination for the seat in the June 23 primary, according to the state's certified canvass. ^[3]
