Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo reached its $100,000 goal within days of an emergency appeal to keep operating through the end of the month, FOX 13 reported. The McGowan family and the Redd family each gave $50,000, according to Provo City Council Chair Katrice MacKay. [1]

Interim CEO Caitlin Rangel, who took the top role last week after serving as chief operating officer, said it costs about $100,000 a week to keep the organization running and she does not want to rely on repeated emergency fundraising. "If we don't raise $1.5 million by the end of this year, we're going to have to look at closing down," she said. [1]

MacKay said the county is covering warming centers this winter and Provo is looking at how it can help. She also called on other communities the food bank serves to contribute. [1]
