1200 South sewer work runs past its contract completion date

A sewer line project that Providence, Utah, is largely paying for at the SR-165 and 1200 South intersection was expected to finish by the end of October, after its contracted completion date passed, according to council minutes. ^[1][2]

The project

At the July 15, 2026 council meeting, City Manager Ryan Snow said Logan City was the lead agency because most of the work is in Logan's right-of-way. He said Providence was funding about 90% of the project because the sewer line is a Providence system asset. ^[1]

Snow said the new parallel line would be 21 inches in diameter and would replace an undersized pipe to add capacity. ^[1]

He said the Utah Department of Transportation requires the contractor to work at night within the state right-of-way, and the city's noise ordinance limits construction to 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The request listed Aug. 10 through Sept. 18, 2026. Snow said he doubted the work would finish within that window. ^[1]

The council approved the temporary noise variance 4–0, with Kirk, Kunz, Speth and Campbell voting yes. Council Member Sealy was absent. ^[1]

September extension

Minutes of the Sept. 16, 2026 meeting are listed for approval on the council's Oct. 21 agenda. They say staff reported the contracted completion date of Sept. 15 had passed and the work was expected to be complete by the end of October. ^[2][3]

According to those minutes, contractor Suncore sought after-hours work for about two nights for the intersection tie-in. The council voted 5–0 to approve the variance through the end of October 2026. ^[2]
