North Logan

North Logan's annual Pumpkin Walk opened to the public Thursday at Elk Ridge Park with the theme "All-American Pumpkins," the Salt Lake Tribune reported. Artists, organizations and community members build scenes out of pumpkins, including Star Wars characters and the founding fathers. [1]

The displays can be seen Saturday, Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The walk is free, and scenes are free of advertising, coordinator Marie Godfrey told the Tribune. According to North Logan, more than 25,000 people attend each year. [1]

Godfrey said her mother, Ida Beutler, started the event 43 years ago on the family farm near the mouth of Green Canyon, serving cookies and apple cider to visitors. The city began hosting it at Elk Ridge Park in 1992. [1]

Other Pumpkin Days activities include a Pumpkin Palooza Pickleball Tournament on Oct. 17, a parade and carnival on Oct. 23 and a pumpkin toss on Oct. 24. [1]
