Huntington council accepts $74,400 cemetery concrete bid

The Huntington City Council voted Aug. 19, 2026 to accept a $74,400 bid from Los Aviles LLC for cemetery concrete work, according to the meeting's minutes. ^[1]

"Two bids were presented for the Cemetery Concrete bid," the minutes say. Council Member Tom Kay moved "to accept the bid from Los Aviles LLC, to use a local contractor," in the amount of $74,400. Council Member Lesa Miller seconded, and all five council members voted yes in a roll call. ^[1]

The minutes do not name the second bidder or give its price, and they do not describe the scope of the concrete work. ^[1]

Courts project tabled

At the same meeting, Council Member Judd Beagley presented three quotes for installing pickleball courts and repairing the existing basketball courts at Lions Park. The council tabled the item until the following month to gather information about grants that might help offset the cost. No quote amounts are recorded and no spending was approved. ^[1]

At the council's July 15, 2026 meeting, Council Member Gloria Wilson reported that "the cemetery project has begun" and that a walkthrough was scheduled for July 27. ^[2]
