Cache Valley is cooler and greener than most of Utah, ringed by mountains and still full of dairy farms. Logan anchors it with Utah State University, a historic downtown and a pioneer temple and tabernacle that sit right in town.
Logan Canyon, a national scenic byway on US-89, climbs from the east edge of town past limestone cliffs, trailheads and Tony Grove Lake to the Bear Lake overlook. It is at its best in late September, when maples and aspens turn red and gold.
