Our mission

Help Utahns understand their communities and hold government accountable. Through nonpartisan, AI-assisted research, we examine public records, follow decisions and votes, and connect readers with local news, events and places.

Everything Utah, every day.

Explore Utah

Museums and history

Art museums, dinosaur halls, pioneer relic halls, railroad and mining collections, and the places that keep local history across the state.

Forty museums we checked against their own websites, then a longer list drawn from the state's museum directory. Neither is a complete count of Utah's museums. Hours, admission and exhibitions change, so each entry links to the museum's own site or listing for the details.

Counts include guide selections and state-directory listings; a venue may appear in both. Sorts apply within each section.

Forty museums worth knowing

Names, cities and categories are the directory's; we have not visited or checked each one, and a listing doesn't mean a place is open to drop-in visitors. Some are run by volunteers or open by appointment, so check before you go.
