Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area
Red cliffs around Flaming Gorge Reservoir, with boating, fishing and the Green River below the dam.
The recreation area spans northeastern Utah and southwestern Wyoming around Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Red Canyon overlooks give a view from land, and the reservoir is used for boating and fishing.
Below the dam, the Green River is known for trout fishing and river trips through canyon country. The reservoir, the overlooks and the river each have their own access points and planning. Vernal and its fossil sites are a common pairing.
