The city-owned airport (code SLC) is run by the Salt Lake City Department of Airports. It started as a field chosen in 1911, was named Woodward Field in 1920, became Salt Lake City Municipal Airport in 1930 and took its current name in 1968. Its three runways are 12,002, 12,000 and 9,596 feet long. Delta carried about 69.5 percent of passengers from June 2025 to May 2026. [1] [2]

The new airport has been built in phases since 2014: the first opened in 2020, the second finished with 13 gates on October 31, 2023, and the third opened on October 22, 2024. More gates opened in October 2025, and the easternmost 11 gates of Concourse B are scheduled for 2026. The airport handled a record 28,364,610 passengers in 2024 and 28,158,007 in 2025, a 0.7 percent drop. [1]
