Encircle's timeline begins in 2016 with founder Stephenie Larsen deciding to act after learning of suicides among LGBTQ+ young people in Provo. Encircle Provo opened on February 14, 2017. In 2019 it began offering its own therapy services after two years of relying on outside providers. [1]

Its current programs include Friendship Circles, weekly peer-led support groups organized by age and identity. A peer group is a different service from therapy. [1]
