Council District 7 vacancy applicant interviews

Each of 15 applicants had five minutes to speak. Council Members Alejandro Puy, Ana Valdemoros and Chris Wharton encouraged all applicants to stay involved and noted the seat will be on the November ballot. After the first ballots, Council Member Puy proposed advancing all three applicants with five or more votes rather than two; that straw poll was supported by Puy, Dugan, Mano, Petro and Valdemoros, and Wharton did not support it. Sarah Young, Aimee Horman and Lisa Yoder answered questions from a set of six, then a second ballot was cast. A majority was required under policy. By straw poll all members present supported having the top two candidates, Lisa Yoder and Sarah Young, answer another round, and after a third ballot Sarah Young was appointed.
