Heber City is the working town of the valley and Midway its Swiss-settled neighbor, with chalet-style buildings and a famous geothermal crater. Between them are pastures, the Wasatch Mountain State Park golf courses and Soldier Hollow, the 2002 Olympic cross-country and biathlon venue.
Jordanelle and Deer Creek reservoirs bracket the valley, busy with boats and paddleboards in summer. The Heber Valley Railroad runs vintage trains along the Provo River and into the canyon.
